The QMap::iterator class provides an STL style iterator for QMap. QMap features both STL style iterators and Java style iterators.
QMap::const_iterator allows you to iterate over a QMap. If you want to modify the QMap as you iterate over it use QMap::iterator instead.
After construction you must initialize the iterator using a method like QMap::constBegin(), QMap::constEnd(), or QMap::find() before you can start iterating.
The following is an example which prints all the (key, value) pairs stored in the map.
Unlike QHash which stores its items in an arbitrary order, QMap stores its items ordered by key.
The following is an example which increments every value stored in the QMap by 2:
Here is an example which removes all the items whose key is a string that starts with an underscore character:
The call to QMap::erase() removes the item pointed to by the iterator from the map and returns an iterator to the next item. Here is another way of removing an item while iterating:
It might be tempting to write code like the following. This code will potentially crash in ++iter
, because iter
is invalid after the call to erase().
